报告题目：Structured Sparsity Promoting Functions and Proximity Algorithms

报告摘要：

This talk is divided into two parts. In the first part, we introduce a simple scheme to construct structured semiconvex sparsity promoting functions from convexsparsity promoting functions and their Moreau envelopes. Properties of the sefunctions are discussed by leveraging their structures. In particular, we provide sparsity guarantees for the general family of functions. We further study the behavior of the proximity operators of several special functions including indicator functions of closed convex sets, piece-wise quadratic functions, and the linear combinations of them. In the second part, we first give an overview of proximity operators and their essential properties. We then present our work on proximity algorithms for a class of optimization problems a rising from image processing.

报告人简介：

沈立新，美国雪城大学数学系教授，美国空军高级顾问。他于1987年本科毕业于北京大学，1990年在北京大学取得硕士学位，1996年在中山大学获数学博士学位。博士毕业后曾在新加坡国立大学、美国西密西根大学等工作，后于2006年加盟美国雪城大学数学系。其研究兴趣包括图像处理、最优化算法、计算调和分析等。曾任Advan. Compt. Math.等杂志副主编。

报告摘要：

In this talk, we report the results of robust tensor completion using tubal singular value decomposition, and its applications. Several applications and theoretical results are discussed. Numerical examples are also presented for demonstration.

报告人简介：

吴国宝（Ng Michael K.），香港浸会大学数学系讲座教授、计算机科学系讲座教授。他于1990年毕业于香港大学数学系，1992年获香港大学硕士学位，1995年获香港中文大学博士学位。他曾在澳大利亚计算机科学实验室任研究员（1995年-1997年），香港大学任助理教授、副教授（1997年-2005年），香港浸会大学讲座教授（2005年-今）。其研究方向包括科学计算、数据挖掘、图像与视觉处理、电子商务、生物信息等。
