报告摘要：In the past two decades, starting with the pioneering work of Bourgain, Brezis, and Mironescu, there has been widespread interest in characterizing Sobolev and BV (bounded variation) functions by means of non-local functionals. I will consider two such functionals: a BMO-type (bounded mean oscillation) functional, and a functional related to the fractional Sobolev seminorms. I will show how these functionals can be used to characterize Sobolev and especially BV functions, including some very recent results in this direction. I will also consider the notion of Gamma-convergence and related open problems.

报告人简介：Panu Lahti，中科院数学与系统科学学院副研究员，博士毕业于芬兰阿尔托大学（Aalto University），导师为Juha Kinnunen教授。主要研究方向为度量空间上的分析、有界变差函数、拟共形映射等，已在《Anal. PDE》《J. Math. Pures Appl.》《Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal.》《Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.》等权威数学杂志发表学术论文四十余篇。
